Everybody enjoys to make pictures during their city trip in order to show the memories to friends and family when they arrive at home, but when you visit Barcelona and make beautiful pictures, those are going to be much more than just a memory. In Barcelona you can capture the authentic art of this city. It is not only one of the most photogenic destinations in the world, but it also has many beautiful places you fall in love with once you have seen them for the first time. These are the best places to take pictures of Barcelona.
Pictures of Barcelona from the height
There is nothing more photogenic than a city as beautiful as Barcelona from the height, giving you the best ideas to capture the Catalan capital from a bird’s point of view. We begin this journey from the top of one of the most charming monuments of Barcelona: the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. This little tour continues through the terraces of this famous Gothic temple, where you can make beautiful pictures of the Born district, the rest of the city and the basilica from another angle.
When you are going to travel to Barcelona and you are a lover of art, then you should not miss a visit to the National Art Museum. Although you may not be an art lover, you can make beautiful pictures when you are walking over the terraces of this important cultural space.
Another place where you have a better perspective of Barcelona is at the top of the shopping centre Las Arenas; with a beautiful view on the Joan Miró park. Colón, Montjuic and the Collserola Tower are three other places where you can capture the best pictures of Barcelona from the sky, while observing the details of the city.
Although this place is less known than the above-mentioned places, Carmel Bunkers is a perfect place to enjoy stunning views without the mass tourism that you will find in other parts of the city. This place is located in the Carmel Bunkers district, on top of the Turó de la Rovira where you have a 360 degree view of Barcelona. Other less popular places are Hotel Ohla at Vía Laietana and the famous Sky Bar.
Touristy but indispensable
Talking about Barcelona means talking about the journey of Gaudí, which means that this artist also has to be a part of your pictures of Barcelona. The places where Gaudí’s main creations can be found are very touristy but essential for all visitors. We start with the Bellesguard building, a tower recently opened for the public despite the fact that some people are still living here. Only a certain section is accessible to tourists but once you enter this building you cannot stop making pictures of this beautiful creations.
Other creations of Gaudí are La Pedrera, the Batlló house and the Güell park. When you are visiting these please you cannot escape from the fact that you have to capture these touristy places but we are convinced that you really want to take them home with you: the source of the dragon, the view from the main entrance, the panoramic view of the city from El Calvario… The Güell palace is also one of the artists’ pearls and a place you can photograph from any angle. It was built at the end of the nineteenth century and today it is a world heritage.
Subsequently we are going to tell you about another touristy place which you cannot miss during your trip: la Sagrada Familia. For now you can only take pictures of the building from the outside with occasional scaffolding, but some parts have already been restored. Even though it is one of the most important places to visit when you are in Barcelona.
Charming places
It may sound crazy but it is the truth, the amusement park Tibidabo is a beautiful location to photograph. It is a theme park where history has been transformed into fun, so of course it is the perfect place for adrenaline but despite of that it is a beautiful place to make photos. This is due to the location where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the fact that the park is already a hundred years old.
Another place where you can make more than a thousand photos is the Palace of Music, a piece of art in the shape of a building which fits perfect in your pictures of Barcelona. Every detail has to be a part of your collection, from the facade to the interior elements: the pillars, lamps, ceilings, windows…
A less popular place but just as charming is the Sant Pau hospital; despite the fact that this building is a hospital, you wouldn’t think it is when you look at the building from outside. It is a beautiful modernist building that has been open to the public for several years now.
Finally we cannot leave Barcelona without having visited the famous market: La Boquería. You can photograph the exterior elements, the many stalls and the hustle of the tourists and customers, but especially we advise you to capture the stalls full of colourful fruits and candy.
Barcelona contains many places where you can discover the history, culture and art of the city, but if you are a real photography lover, you will definitely enjoy your trip to the Catalan capital while photographing these beautiful above-mentioned places. Now you are ready to discover Barcelona from a different perspective!
