Today we would like to introduce you to our colleague Jess, Communications Manager for UK and the Netherlands at Muchosol. She is going to tell us all about her favourite destination: Dublin (Ireland).
Hi Jess, tell us something about yourself and your job at Muchosol
My name is Jess Maas, I am 23 years old and I am the Communications Manager for UK and the Netherlands. Originally I am from the Netherlands and have been living in Valencia for 2 years now. I work in our marketing department in these two markets: the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
And tell us, where did you travel to last year?
I have to say that I did not travel that much last year. Since I am living in Spain, I travelled a few times to the Netherlands to see my family and friends. In summer, I stayed in Spain and visited the wonderful Guadalest. I also spend one day in Benidorm, which I will never do again in august, and the charming towns of Calpe and Altea on the Costa Blanca.
Tell us, what is your favourite destination?
I haven’t seen that many places in the world but the one I know best and would love to visit again is certainly Dublin. Not only the city is beautiful, but the people are so kind and you have the possibility to discover its impressive landscape from here. I lived here for 4 months as an Erasmus student and I really enjoyed this city. You can enjoy its great shopping streets, many green parks and, of course, the vibrant streets with many pubs where there’s always a good atmosphere.
How many times have you been there? Are you going back?
It has been four years already when I lived in this city for four months. I haven’t been able to go back yet but I would really love to visit this city again. Since I am living in Spain right now, I prefer to first see as much as possible of this beautiful country, and after I am sure I will book a city trip to Dublin with my boyfriend, and to show him where I lived as a student. I’m already looking forward to have a beer in the famous Temple Bar in Dublin two and stroll through its paved streets.
What is the best thing to do in Dublin?
The first thing you should do when you arrive in Dublin, is visiting one of its famous pubs in Dublin 2. The best are the ones with live music, where the people are always having fun and love to have a beer with you. You certainly also have to try a Guinness, I don’t like it at all but you should at least try it! Besides that, you should visit its old and well-known Trinity College which is located in the city centre. Among this place you’ll also find the best shopping streets and natural parks. Dublin is not such a large city which gives you the possibility to also visit its surroundings. As you might know, Ireland is a beautiful country. Near Dublin you can visit a large natural park with the Malahide Castle, and Dublin also has a beach!
In addition, if you would like to try the best fish & chips, you should visit a small town close to Dublin called Howth. Have a walk through this fishing village north of Dublin and enjoy the stunning views of the sea.
If you have a day left in Dublin, I’d recommend you to take a bus tour to the other side of the country to visit the Cliffs of Moher. You certainly know this magical place. During this trip you’ll see more of the country, discover how green the country is and visit cities such as Galway.
What would you recommend to those who want to go to Dublin?
It is a city that isn’t very big, and you can easily visit the best things by public transport if you don’t like to walk since there are many buses driving through Dublin. What I would recommend you as well is visiting Dublin during St. Patrick’s Day. It is one of the most important days in the whole country and in Dublin, everybody will be happy and drinking beers in the streets. There are also parades and everybody is wearing clothes in the colours of the country.
Finally, what is your next destination?
The first destination I would like to visit next is Granada in the south of Spain. I heard too many good things about it that I would like to discover it as soon as possible, especially now I am living in the country itself. In addition, I’m also curious to discover the countries north of Europe such as Denmark and Sweden. At last, I just have to go to the United States once in my life. I am not planning on going there soon, but it’s a country I just have to see!
